Digital Movie Poster Display: 2014 Movie Poster Collection

For those of you who have been following my Digital Movie Poster Display project (Part1, Part 2, Part 3), here is a collection of posters from 2014. All of the posters were sourced from IMPAwards (great place to find movie posters!), and had original files that were no smaller than 1,500 pixels on the long side, but most were quite a bit bigger. There are 1,112 posters in this file, all resized to 1920×1080 pixels, and rotated to fit on a standard 16:9 television screen.…

Digital Movie Poster Display: 2015 Movie Poster Collection

So I’ve recently been revisiting my Digital Movie Poster Display project (Part1, Part 2, Part 3). Some of the posters that I had originally put on there were not of the best quality, and my organization of them made it almost impossible to sort through them all to find the bad ones. So I decided to take time to re-download them all, and make sure that everything is up to par on the quality side. IMPAwards allows you to sort through their poster archive based…

Kodi Cinema Vision X-Men Trivia Packs

Here’s a little something for the Nerd Cave if you’re using Kodi (formerly XBMC) with the Cinema Experience Cinema Vision add-on to run your Home Theater Computer. For those of you who don’t know what the Cinema Experience Cinema Vision add-on does, quite simply, it allows you to recreate the actual cinema experience by playing trivia slides, trailers, and public services announcements before the movie starts, just like when you go to the theater. When Mrs. Th0r and I go out to the movies, one…

Freak La Critique: Terminator Genisys

When I initially heard that Arnold Schwarzenegger was shopping the possibility of a new Terminator movie my heart sank. I took it as a cash grab, as I also heard that he was shopping sequels for Conan The Barbarian, and Twins at the same time also. Even with my doubts I’m a big enough fan of the franchise that I intended to see it in the theater anyway. That was my intention, but with a busy summer schedule that included a family trip to Virginia…

Freak la Critique

OK, let me preface this by saying that I have absolutely ZERO educational background in cinematography; I have never taken a film class, I know absolutely nothing about what goes into making a movie, and to be honest… I don’t really effing care. What I do know, is what I like; I appreciate a good performance, I love a unique story (if there is such a thing any more), I despise gimmicky-over-the-top-special-effects that do nothing to aid in the telling of the story, and I’m…
